Governor's Lodge Resort Hotel calls Norfolk Island home. A tranquil paradise of pristine golden beaches, dramatic coastline and lush sub-tropical forest, it sits like a jewel off the coast of Australia. The resort languishes in twelve acres of exquisite gardens, where banana palms and colourful hibiscus via for your eye beneath a towering canopy of magnificent Norfolk Pines.
Modern and comfortable, it has been designed for people who want a relaxing retreat surrounded by the beauty of nature. Indeed, there’s a charming village feel to the resort that envelops every guest in a comforting blanket of peace and tranquillity. Read a book on your private verandah, relax by the pool, play a game of tennis or simply chill out in the spa.
When you manage to pull yourself away from the resort, you’ll discover that there’s plenty of fun to be had. From strolling along the pine-fringed beaches, biking, fishing and, of course, playing around 18 on the lush greens. Being on an island lends itself to boating that, apart from being great fun, is also the best way to go whale watching. Back on dry land there are excellent wineries waiting to be toured and some large reserves and parks where you can discover the ancient volcanic past of the island.
Back at the resort, Bailey’s Restaurant is waiting to treat your tastebuds like royalty with its exquisite contemporary a la carte menu, featuring the freshest local produce. Delicious!
Governor's Lodge Resort Hotel. A different taste of the South Pacific.

Wonderful Norfolk Island in the South Pacific

Great Holiday with good weather in early December. Food at resort was good with special price set lunch. Also across the road. A little out of town but a pleasant 15 mins walk. Lots of bus tours to get to see the island and they pick up at the resort. Enjoyed progressive dinner tour 1 night at 3 different private homes and a sunset fish fry-up another night. Tour of Colleen McCullough's house very interesting. Islanders are very friendly. Attended the JW meetings in their quaint little hall.

What this member liked most:

The historical sites, the greenness of the island, the abundance of pine trees, the feeling of being in the vast South Pacific ocean.

The Perfect Getaway

We had the best relaxing time on Norfolk Island, staying at Governers Lodge. The staff especially Mere who was always smiling and happy and a wealth of info. There is no 3g moble service, but there is a phone in the unit, and internet available, but it was nice to be free of it all. The king size bed was beaut, and the lounge/Kitchen/ dinning was all that we needed. The food at Governers Lodge/ Baileys was first class, we even had takeaway from there. We ate lunch there for $10.00 on a set menu or you could order other meals, but we didn't and the night special was 3 courses $18.50 which was execellent. This meant we could do any thing on the island and come back for lunch and off again and be back for Dinner, so convienent. Loved the units as they are all by themselves but there 55 of them, so quite and you can sit outside and watch the birdlife. The pool and hot spa was delightful after a day trechin about. There is nothing there I would change. delightful and will be back!!!
