"No artist's palette could ever conceive of a more perfect, more luminescent turquoise than that of the lagoon of Aitutaki, arguably the most beautiful in the world." So Steve Davey has written in his book, "Unforgettable Places to See Before You Die.”

Exuding stylish tropical decor, the overwater or beachfront bungalows come complete with air-conditioning, thatched roof, pandanus-lined walls, beautiful appointments, a refreshing open-air shower and direct access to the inviting lagoon waters. Other creature comforts include wide-opening sliding doors onto the lagoonfront verandah, super king size bed, Wi-Fi, satellite TV/DVD player, in-room movies, CD player/radio alarm clock, and in-room safe. The spacious bungalow bathroom features an open-air shower in a private walled garden, cotton-waffle bathrobes, hairdryer, iron and ironing board and his and her vanities, as well as plenty of luggage and wardrobe space. The bungalow also offers coffee / tea making facilities and a mini refrigerator. Bungalows are of course serviced daily along with turndown service each evening, and in-room dining is just a phone call away.

Flying Boat Beach Bar & Grill is named in honour of the glamorous Coral Route which saw such screen luminaries as Cary Grant, Marlon Brando and John Wayne journey to Aitutaki by flying boat to see for themselves one of the true wonders of the world.

As the only resort directly on the world's most beautiful lagoon, The Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa is truly blessed. This exclusive all-bungalow resort is one-of-a-kind in many other respects also. It is the only private island resort in the Cook Islands.

Stay at Aitutaki Laggon Resort and Spa

Our stay at the Aitutaki Resort and Spa was very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room provided a breath-taking view of the lagoon. The Flying Boat Bar and restaurant at the resort went the extra mile to bake gluten-free bread for Brian who suffers from coeliac disease and the restaurant provided gluten-free muesli for breakfast and gluten-free options for lunch and dinner.

What this member liked most:

The friendliness of the staff and the location of the resort.
