The Bright Resort

Victoria, Australia

In the heart of Victoria's picturesque and spectacular north east alpine region is Bright, a getaway for all seasons. In winter there's skiing at the major snowfields of Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo.

Autumn brings a riot of colour to the tree-lined streets of Bright, and the action packed Autumn Festival.

Spring is the perfect time for bush walks to discover the alpine wildflowers, while in summer the crystal clear mountain creeks will tempt you to escape the heat.

Whatever the season, you won't be left wanting things to do. Bright is one of the prettiest towns in Victoria and is surrounded by some other close contenders! Take a day trip to the historic gold rush towns of Yackandandah or Beechworth, or relive Ned Kelly's last stand at Glenrowan.

BRIG_autumn_trees_300x200!!the_bright_resort_victoria_australia.jpgExplore for historic buildings from Bright's gold mining past or walk some of the safe tracks which feature panoramic views, bubbling mountain streams, parks and picnic spots, or explore nearby Boyton's winery.

Nestled in the arms of the Ovens Valley in the North East of the Alpine region, The Bright Resort is sheltered from harsh winter storms and winds.  Mind you, the snowfields are only a hop, skip and a jump away. And, best of all, you can pick a different place every day. The snow fields of Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buffalo are an hour away offering outstanding skiing for all levels.

If you would prefer not to drive yourself, there’s a bus to Hotham most days and to Mt Buffalo on weekends. Chains, skis, toboggans and clothing can all be hired or bought from local businesses.

The 34 two bedroom self-contained villas cater for either four or six people, all have air-conditioning and heating, a full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, bathroom, two televisions, and a DVD/VCR. Some have two bathrooms, plus a washing machine and drier. There is a free laundry on site for those that don’t.

After a hard day’s play, the onsite facilities include a swimming pool, sauna or heated indoor spa to relax away the kinks, and a games room to keep the kids occupied. Play a game of chess in the owner’s lounge or lawn bowls.

BRIG_winter_300x200!!the_bright_resort_victoria_australia.jpgTry a round of mini golf, some tennis or basketball and fire up one of the resort’s barbeques. If you’re there in August, you can plan tactics for the annual Mt Hotham to Dinner Plain Cross Country ‘Pub to Pub’ race.

Local walks, golf, bowls, canoeing, tennis, swimming, gold panning, horse riding, skiing and fishing are just some of the activities available in Bright. Within a short distance is boating, water skiing, flying and hang gliding.

Shop in a friendly atmosphere, or dine at one of the numerous restaurants or cafes.

Historic buildings from the days of the gold rush add to Bright’s charm and appeal. Wineries are only an hour away. And, of special note to gourmet travellers, it is home to Simone’s, one of the best restaurants in Victoria.

Alpine Victoria has a wealth of history to offer, spectacular scenery, wineries and unlimited activities. And The Bright Resort is the perfect base from which to experience it all.
