Knysna Chalets are set in amongst lush gardens, a hop, skip and a jump away from the beautiful Knysna lagoon in Knysna, Garden Route. This 18sq km body of water is nestled between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. A pair of monolithic sandstone cliffs, known locally as, 'The Heads' protect the seaward entrance to the lagoon. You can actually take a tour across to the Featherbed Reserve located on one of the Heads, and relax with a coffee while enjoying the truly spectacular view.
The chalet accommodation makes for a cosy and comfortable starting point to your South Africa adventure. As one would expect, the lagoon is the liquid heart of the area and, with over 200 species of fish swimming beneath the surface, it's ideal for fishing and, of course, scuba diving. Alternatively, you can always try your hand at water-skiing, windsurfing, or a leisurely sighting cruise. Sooner or later you're going to have to leave the resort and, rather conveniently, the town of Knysna proper is just a short drive away. Here, you can enjoy a spot of retail therapy and culinary appreciation; the freshly caught seafood, particularly the oysters, is a must-try. Later, after a refreshing dip in the pool, you can either rustle up a seafood feast (remember to buy some) on the private braai (BBQ) or delve into the delights on offer at the resort's Portuguese inspired restaurant, over a delightfully a cheeky cocktail.
